M45-49: Thomas Parker Owns the Shamrock'n 10K

• Parker wins in 40:39 — a 6:33/mi average that put more than four minutes of daylight between him and 2nd place.
• Four-minute gap to 2nd: Daniel Bodie finished in 44:47 (7:13/mi), and Blake Nordahl took 3rd in 46:32 — the top three were spread across nearly six minutes.
• Late surge from Devereaux: Thomas Devereaux climbed from 72nd to 57th among men in the back half, posting the 49th-fastest second-5K split to lock up 4th in 48:53.
• Tight cluster at 7th–8th: Matt Hart (52:19, 8:25/mi) and Matt Depa (52:25, 8:26/mi) finished just six seconds apart to round out the top eight.

Thomas Parker made this one look straightforward. Running 6:33 per mile across 6.2 miles in cool, clear conditions, the 46-year-old from Elk Grove crossed in 40:39 — the kind of time that commands a group of 49 finishers. He was never seriously threatened, and by the second half he was already well clear, recording the 11th-fastest second-5K split among men in the field.

Behind Parker, Daniel Bodie (44:47) and Blake Nordahl (46:32) held 2nd and 3rd without drama, each running a steady race. Bodie's 7:13/mi and Nordahl's 7:29/mi tell the story of a measured effort from both — consistent, but unable to close the gap Parker had opened. Nordahl, at 49, was the oldest man on the podium.

The most interesting movement in the back half came from Thomas Devereaux. The Sacramento 47-year-old was buried in the mid-70s among men at the halfway mark but ran the second 5K hard enough to climb fifteen places, finishing 4th overall in the M45-49 group at 48:53. Daniel Freer (5th, 50:57) made a similar push, moving from 98th to 82nd among men in the closing half.

Further back, the race tightened into a long pack. John Pappas (57:27) and Travis Batts (57:28) finished one second apart for 11th and 12th, while Casanova and Delgado both clocked 9:24/mi — separated by just four seconds at 15th and 16th. With 29 additional finishers not individually listed, the M45-49 group was one of the fuller age groups on the course.
