Shamrock'n 10K F35-39: Aubin Runs Away With It

• Danielle Aubin won the F35-39 age group in 50:34 (8:08/mi), finishing more than 3 minutes ahead of runner-up Belma Dizdarevic.
• Aubin climbed from 24th to 16th among women in the second half, posting the 15th-fastest women's split on the 5K-to-finish stretch.
• Dizdarevic (2nd, 53:37) similarly moved up in the second half, advancing from 42nd to 35th among women with the 33rd-fastest women's split on that same stretch.
• Six finishers — from 6th-place Mary Hicks (57:57) through 10th-place Erica Myers (58:44) — were separated by just 47 seconds across that stretch of the leaderboard.

Danielle Aubin made the F35-39 race look almost easy. Running 8:08 per mile across the full 10K, she crossed in 50:34 — a margin of 3:03 over second place — and she wasn't coasting in the back half. Her 15th-fastest women's split on the 5K-to-finish leg shows she was still pressing, climbing eight places in the women's field between the halfway mark and the finish line.

Behind her, Belma Dizdarevic (Lincoln, CA) secured second in 53:37 with a similarly strong closing half, moving up seven spots among women to finish 35th in the women's field. Madison Greenwood (El Dorado Hills, CA) rounded out the podium in 55:29, holding steady at 52nd among women through both halves of the race. Tiffany Eid (Sacramento, CA) was just 40 seconds further back in 4th at 56:09, with Karen Angel rounding out the top five in 57:18.

The most compelling racing in the age group happened just outside the top five, where a cluster of six women — Mary Hicks (6th, 57:57) through Erica Myers (10th, 58:44) — traded positions across 47 seconds of finish time. Hicks and Tran Nguyen were separated by just two seconds (57:57 vs. 57:59) for 6th and 7th, and Samantha Bushnell and Myers finished 9th and 10th just one second apart (58:43 vs. 58:44). In a field of 134 finishers, that mid-pack scrum was the closest racing of the day.
