Elvira Ramirez of Virginia Beach put together the strongest performance in the F80-99 group, crossing in 1:19:53 at a 16:04-per-mile pace. At 81, she had the race well in hand from the start — the data shows her gender standing held steady throughout, a sign of consistent, controlled running rather than a late surge or fade. Nine minutes is a commanding margin over any field, and she earned every second of it.

Charlotte Rhodes, 84, of S Prince George claimed second in 1:28:41, making her the fastest 84-year-old on the course. Pat Donohue of Richmond ran just 1:30 behind her to take third in 1:30:11 — close enough to keep that battle interesting. Ellen Stott, also 84 and a local Virginia Beach runner, was another 1:48 back in fourth at 1:31:59.

Gail Oberta made the trip from The Hills, Texas, and rounded out the group in fifth, finishing in 1:38:27 at a 19:48-per-mile pace.
