The 10-year-old from Virginia Beach held off 14-year-old Cameron Lyon across the full 8 kilometers, finishing in 35:58 to Lyon's 36:40. That 42-second margin was comfortable enough, but Lyon will know he had the age advantage and couldn't close it. Fourth place went to 9-year-old Aiden Lota of Chesapeake in 37:36 — a remarkable result for one of the youngest kids in a 175-finisher field.

The race for fifth through eighth was where things got genuinely competitive. John Ballantyne (37:51), Edwin Crandley Jr (37:58), Nathan Kelly (38:03), and Teddy Gilmartin (38:15) were separated by just 24 seconds across four places — a stretch of racing that deserved a louder crowd. Further back, the 39:02 shared clock time between Walker Logan (10th) and Maxwell Irons (11th) required the timing system to settle the matter, and Logan got the nod.
